Practice opened Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with another big crash and another airborne racecar. Ed Carpenter, after turning a lap of 231 mph in his Fuzzy's Vodka Dallara/Chevrolet, pounded the Turn 2 wall, slid backward, flipped over and slid down the backstretch on his roll bar. He scrambled out of his badly damaged car and reacted angrily to the reality of his situation.
