Hinchliffe transported to local hospital after violent crash
A mechanical failure has sent James Hinchliffe into the wall. INDIANAPOLIS - During Monday Indy 500 practice, James Hinchcliffe was involved a violent accident. The Schmidt-Peterson Honda seemed to have suffered a mechanical failure in the third corner, sending Hinchcliffe straight into the wall. The session was only an hour old at the point of the impact. The car caught fire and most the right side was destroyed. Sebastien Saavedra narrowly avoided a rogue tire as the Canadian's spun into the apron where it lifted off the ground and almost completely flipped over, going up on its side before coming to rest on all fours. He is awake and alert but is being transported to a local hospital...
