INDY 500: Fast start for Rossi
The sum total of Alexander Rossi's oval experience before 2016 was zero, which makes the Californian's pace at Indianapolis one of the more remarkable storylines this month. As the fastest rookie in the Indianapolis 500 field for Bryan Herta and Michael Andretti, Rossi flirted with making the Fast Nine on Saturday, which would have put him in contention for Sunday's run for pole position. Instead, he'll start 11th, ahead of speedway ringers like Scott Dixon, Marco Andretti, and defending race winner Juan Montoya. He's also 11 spots ahead of the second-fastest rookie, Max Chilton.
