Hinchcliffe's car fails Texas post-race checks
– James Hinchcliffe and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports have been penalised by IndyCar officials following the Canadian's second-place finish at the Firestone 600 in Texas.Hinchcliffe, who lost out to Graham Rahal by just 0.008s, was docked 25 championship points after the #5 Honda was found in violation of rule 14.6.8.2.2, relating to domed skid wear.Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has also been given a $20,000 fine."In our post-race analysis this week it was determined the skid plate on the #5 entry was worn and in violation of our rules," said Jay Frye, IndyCar President of Competition and Operations."This [wearing] was both a performance advantage and a safety concern,...
