Newgarden confirmed at Penske for 2017 IndyCar season
IndyCar race winner Josef Newgarden will join Team Penske for the 2017 season, replacing Juan Pablo Montoya. Last week Ed Carpenter Racing confirmed he would not remain at the team for a third season, after scoring three victories with ECR. Newgarden enjoyed a successful fifth full IndyCar season, finishing a career-best fourth and the highest placed non-Penske driver. Since ECR announced his departure, speculation has picked up pace over his 2017 plans and he was linked to a Penske seat.
