Josef Newgarden has praised his Penske team’s strategy call during the Toronto IndyCar race, after winning it for the second time in his career. His team-mate Helio Castroneves took early control of the race, but a well-timed caution promoted Newgarden to the lead. Penske pitted Newgarden one lap before the caution, a strategy that also helped fellow podium finishers Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe. From there, he was able to control the race, feeling his car was “very fast”. Newgarden stayed out of trouble to take his second win of the 2017 IndyCar season.
