Palmer puts Lotus on top as Barcelona F1 test ends
Jolyon Palmer put Lotus on top of the times on the second and final day of Formula 1 testing at the Barcelona circuit on Wednesday. The Briton, taking over from Pastor Maldonado at the wheel of the E30, jumped to first place with some 15 minutes of the session left thanks to a run on super-soft tyres. Palmer's best of 1:26.080, nearly two seconds slower than yesterday's benchmark, put him ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, who had looked set to finish quickest before the Lotus driver's late run.
